Terms of Use
Effective date: September 18, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of www.foolednomore.org and its content, tools, forms, chat features, downloads, and related services (collectively, the “Site”). The Site is operated by The Fooled No More Foundation (the “Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
Our role and emergency limitations
The Foundation provides survivor-centered education, practical tools, advocacy information, and connections to independent support. The Foundation is not a crisis hotline, emergency-response service, law firm, legal-referral service, medical provider, mental-health provider, or law-enforcement agency. The Site is not monitored continuously.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 when it is safe to do so. For confidential support in the United States, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or visit thehotline.org.
Educational information—not professional advice
Site content is general educational information. It is not legal, medical, mental-health, financial, tax, or other professional advice and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who understands your circumstances. Using the Site or communicating with the Foundation does not create an attorney-client, therapist-client, doctor-patient, fiduciary, confidential, or other professional relationship.
Laws, services, eligibility rules, and safety considerations vary by location and change over time. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to use information from the Site.
Self-assessments, reflection tools, and downloads
Any assessment, quiz, checklist, worksheet, screening tool, or downloadable resource on the Site is educational and non-diagnostic. It cannot determine whether a person has a mental-health condition, confirm abuse, predict danger, establish legal evidence, or recommend a specific legal or clinical outcome. Results and suggested next steps are not professional findings.
Downloads, notes, browser history, form entries, and device activity may be visible to other people who can access your device or accounts. A quick-exit feature does not guarantee that activity records are erased.
Resource links and referrals
The Site may link to independent hotlines, shelters, attorneys, legal-aid programs, mental-health professionals, government services, directories, and other organizations. Unless we expressly state otherwise, listing or linking to a resource does not mean that the Foundation has screened, credentialed, endorsed, guaranteed, or formed an agency relationship with that provider. Availability, eligibility, licensing, cost, quality, safety, and current information must be confirmed directly with the provider.
The Foundation does not guarantee a response, placement, appointment, representation, referral, or outcome.
Forms, chat, email, and user submissions
Forms, chat features, AI-enabled features, and email are not confidential, privileged, or appropriate for emergencies. Do not submit highly sensitive information, detailed case files, payment credentials, medical records, or information about another person without a lawful basis and that person’s permission.
You are responsible for information you submit. You agree not to submit unlawful, threatening, defamatory, infringing, malicious, misleading, or privacy-invasive content; impersonate another person; introduce malware; interfere with the Site; or attempt unauthorized access.
By submitting content for publication or campaign use, you confirm that you have the right to provide it and grant the Foundation a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, and display it for the purpose for which it was submitted. This license does not apply to ordinary private inquiries that are not intended for publication.
Accounts and interactive features
If a member or account feature is available, you are responsible for accurate information, safeguarding your credentials, and activity under your account. We may restrict or terminate access to protect users, the Site, or the Foundation or to address violations of these Terms.
Donations and fundraising
Donations are processed through Givebutter and its payment partners under their own terms and privacy policies. The Foundation does not receive or store full payment-card numbers.
Unless a campaign expressly states otherwise and the Foundation accepts a restriction in writing, donations support the Foundation’s overall charitable mission and may be used where needed most. A donation is not payment for an individual service and does not guarantee assistance or an outcome. Keep the receipt issued by the donation platform. Statements about tax treatment are general information; consult your tax adviser about your circumstances.
Donation transactions are generally final, subject to applicable law and the donation platform’s policies. Questions or refund requests may be sent to info@foolednomore.org and will be reviewed with the payment platform as appropriate.
If you create or share a fundraiser connected with the Foundation, protect survivor privacy and do not publish another person’s story, identity, images, location, or circumstances without permission.
Intellectual property and permitted use
The Site and its original text, graphics, logos, design, and other content are owned by or licensed to the Foundation and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may view the Site and download resources that are expressly offered for personal, noncommercial, educational use. You may not reproduce, sell, modify, republish, remove attribution from, or create misleading derivative uses of Site content without written permission, except as allowed by law or by a license stated on the resource.
Third-party services
The Site may contain links, embeds, or integrations operated by third parties, including Wix, Givebutter, social networks, resource providers, and downloadable-file services. We do not control third-party content, availability, security, accessibility, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” The Foundation disclaims warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, and results. We do not promise that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Foundation and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to the Site, third-party resources, or reliance on Site content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes and availability
We may update, correct, suspend, or discontinue Site content or features at any time. We may revise these Terms by posting an updated version and changing the effective date. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable law, disputes relating to the Site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
